Who gets translated?

Perhaps because I’ve been working with a translator every day for a little more than a year now, I found this post interesting. I also have a couple of friends who have had books translated into languages other than English. But I had no idea there was such disparity between men and women when it comes to translating books and poetry. It didn’t surprise me that, on average, far more male  than female authors get their work translated.

From a master

Without doubt, at least in my mind, Ray Bradbury is one of the best writers ever. Something Wicked This Way Comes, Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles  and more — all amazed me as a young reader. In this snippet from an old interview, I learned something about his life and his writing.

Kid’s favorites

May 4-10 is Children’s Book Week. And, let’s face it. Most of us wouldn’t be writers if books hadn’t grabbed us as children. Timid Timothy, The Kitten Who Learned to Be Brave by Gweneira Maureen Williams did it for me. I read that the day I got my library card and decided I wanted to be a writer. It was my first favorite. Here are the favorites of 25 graphic novelists. What’s yours?
